Our Eric Elliott Memorial Scholarship is only awarded to students pursuing the Infant & Pregnancy Loss Support Certificate Program. We value the effort you're putting into applying for our scholarship. To make sure your time is well-spent, please take a moment to thoroughly review the following guidelines before submitting your application:
Selection Criteria
The Eric Elliott Memorial Scholarship is awarded to those who display a commitment to serving others in their community, a strong work ethic and leadership qualities.
Strong applicants will demonstrate:

Desire to make a meaningful contribution to their community

Willingness to grow care specific to pregnancy and infant loss

Integrity, self-discipline and good judgment
-
Leadership characteristics
-
Knowledge of the current care available in their community
Priority will given to applicants:

From rural and/or marginalized communities
-
From specific geographical areas or cultural communities earmarked to receive funds
Preparing Your Application
In preparation to apply, you’ll need to gather the following information:

Contact information for two references (not family members)
-
Short personal responses (up to 250 words each) about what you do in your community to serve others, why you want to specialize in infant & pregnancy loss support, and your future goals and leadership vision

Details about the current state of end-of-life care in your community
During Your Training & After You Graduate
Scholarship recipients are expected to take an active role in building the Pre and Perinatal Hospice Program in their community.
Areas of representation include:

Managing the local Comfort Cozie Program
-
Caring for your community’s most marginalized individuals
-
Leading the awareness of the Pre and Perinatal Hospice Program in your community through presentations and workshops, such as "When Labour Leads to Loss: A Workshop for Funeral Professionals"

Running a local Our Babies, Our Grief Progressive Healing Group
-
Offering one-on-one care before, during and after a labour that will end in loss
-
Taking the lead in community outreach to build HHA's community partners

Becoming an HHA Board Member

We review applications on a regular basis to ensure timely processing. Applicants can expect to hear back about the status of their application within 2-6 weeks after submission. Applicants who successfully advance to the next round of the selection process will be invited to participate in an interview.
