Compassionate Caregiving

Promoting Mindful Self-Compassion Along the Caregiving Journey

Our Compassionate Caregiving Program offers support, empowerment, and education for caregivers, helping them manage stress, avoid burnout, and maintain well-being while caring for individuals facing death.

Unpaid (familial) caregivers represent a $4 billion per year cost savings to Canada's health care system.

About Compassionate Caregiving

Caregivers often juggle numerous tasks, from managing household duties to coordinating endless medical appointments, all while striving to stay emotionally connected. Amidst these responsibilities, it's common for caregivers to neglect their own well-being.

By addressing common sources of caregiver stress, the Compassionate Caregiving Program  provides culturally sensitive support to volunteer, familial, and professional caregivers, aiming to reduce burnout, empathy fatigue, and stress-related work absenteeism.

For every person who is facing death, there are at least 5 other people intimately affected.

How Compassionate Caregiving Helps

Walk with Us

We believe in the power of remembrance, education, and community in providing comfort to those navigating dying, death, grief and loss. Join our Moonlit Memory Walk to support the Compassionate Caregiving program and help us provide compassionate end-of-life care for all.

This event is a meaningful way to honour and celebrate the lives of parents, grandparents, siblings, children, colleagues, and loved ones lost before, during, or after pregnancy. We also remember beloved pets and those who donated life-saving organs. Your participation helps us continue our mission to offer comfort and support to those facing dying, death, grief, and loss.

Partner with Us

Enroll your team in our Compassionate Companioning Online Training, designed to equip caregivers with mindfulness-based techniques and insights from experts in the four domains of care (legacy, planning, bedside support, and grief).

This training is ideal for agencies and organizations - such as retirement residences, long-term care facilities, and in-home nursing agencies - looking to enhance their support for clients nearing or at the end of life. Learn more here.

If you need support or would like to inquire about our services in your area, get in touch with us at info@homehospiceassociation.com.

Supporting caregivers is essential for the well-being of those they care for. Your donation allows us to tailor our caregiving modules to address the unique needs of specific populations, such as 2SLGBTQ+ communities, unhoused individuals, and those with substance use issues. This ensures that caregivers are well-equipped to provide compassionate support to people from these groups. Help us recognize the invaluable efforts of caregivers and build a compassionate, sustainable caregiving ecosystem.
