ALERT: Infant & Pregnancy Loss Scholarship Fund

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

Home Hospice Association is honoured to announce the launch of our 2022-2023 Infant & Pregnancy Loss Certificate Program Scholarship Fund!

Infant and Pregnancy Loss Certificate Program Scholarship Fund

Imagine the comfort that recipients of this scholarship will help provide to those who, in the time it has taken you to read this alert, have just been given the devastating news that their baby has no heartbeat. Just as it would have “taken a village” to raise that child, scholarship recipients will become part of a village that cares for that child and its family at this impossible time.

Home Hospice Association’s goal is to have trained Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doulas provide care in:

  • Hospital Birthing Units

  • Women’s Shelters

  • Women’s Prisons

  • Community Prenatal Centres

  • Midwifery Clinics

  • Family Health Teams

About the Care that Scholarship Recipients Will Provide:

About the HHA Infant & Pregnancy Loss Certificate Program

Inspired by parents who shared their stories of pregnancy and infant loss, Home Hospice Association recognized the need for compassion, education, care and support. In 2015, we created Canada’s first Infant and Pregnancy Loss Certificate Program to help equip our communities with the knowledge, tools and resources needed to assist people at one of the most painful times of their lives.

  • This program is 100% Canadian.

  • It was created by professionals in birthing, funeral services, bereavement and end-of-life care.

  • Home Hospice Association educators are uniquely positioned to offer comprehensive knowledge and lived experience.

  • Not only does each participant travel a 6-month journey to certification, they also receive a lifetime of learning as an HHA professional.

Responding to and/or sharing this alert means you are helping to ensure that the $700.00 tuition for the HHA Infant & Pregnancy Loss Certificate Program is available in the communities most in need.

Important Things to Know About Applying to the Fund:

  • When you complete the program, you become a Certified Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula.

  • Each scholarship recipient is required to represent the HHA Pre and Perinatal Hospice Program in their community.

  • Each scholarship recipient will go through an application process that includes a mandatory interview.

  • The primary qualification to receive a scholarship is not financial need but rather a passion for giving back and helping to ease the suffering of those suffering the most.

Help Grow the Fund

With your support this is possible especially in the places where loss may well be suffered without partner or family support. Whether you are able to help provide funding for one scholarship or fund an entire tuition, each dollar we raise puts one more Certified Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula with someone who is about to experience or has just experienced the loss of their pregnancy or baby.

All donations towards HHA’s IPLD Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.

Become a Champion of Change

Whether you are donating to the fund or applying to the fund, you will become a Champion of Change in your Community.

1 in 4. That is how many people will experience pregnancy loss. Consider how it would feel to know you made a difference when a friend, neighbour, co-worker, family member or client hears the words, “I am sorry, but we can no longer detect a heartbeat.”
